Ilya Sorokin

About

Goaltender who was taken as a third round pick in the 2014 NHL draft by the New York Islanders. Since then, he has also logged hours as a member of the Russian men's national team. He won a gold medal with Team Russia during the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Before Fame

Prior to his NHL career, he played hockey as a kid with Metallurg Novokuznetsk. He also played youth soccer with Kuznetskie Medvedi.

Trivia

He made his official NHL debut with the Islanders while playing against the New York Rangers on January 16, 2021. Unfortunately, he and his teammates lost the match with a score of 5-0. On July 1, 2023, Sorokin signed an eight-year, $66 million contract extension with the Islanders. He stands 6'3".

Family Life

Growing up, he lived with his parents in Mezhdurechensk, Russia.
