Award-winning trumpet player and composer. He recorded numerous albums with his Rendell–Carr Quintet, as well as with the Nucleus jazz/rock group.
Before Fame
He taught himself how to play the trumpet when he was seventeen years old. He went on to study education and literature at Newcastle University.
Trivia
As a session musician for numerous artists and bands, he played the flugelhorn as well as the trumpet.
Family Life
His younger brother, Mike Carr, also had a career as a musician.
Associated With
Carr wrote about jazz at length and penned a biography of Miles Davis.
