A Texas-born author and newspaper columnist, she compiled books of helpful household advice, including Heloise’s Housekeeping Hints and Heloise's Kitchen Hints. She first published her popular Hints from Heloise column in the Honolulu Advertiser in 1959.
Before Fame
She was born Eloise Bowles, and she grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. Soon after it appeared, her housekeeping advice column was syndicated by close to six hundred newspapers.

Family Life
She married Marshal Holman Cruse, a captain in the U.S. Army Air Forces. The couple's daughter, Ponce Kiah Marchelle Heloise Cruse, was born in 1951 and became the new Heloise advice columnist following her mother's death in 1977.
