Famous as a comedy writer for both Parks & Recreation and The Sarah Silverman Program, he is also remembered for his guest spots on the popular Comedy Bang! Bang! podcast, as well as for his 2012 book Humblebrag: The Art of False Modesty.

Before Fame

After graduating from Emerson College's video and TV production program, he relocated to Los Angeles, California, and pursued a career as a stand-up comedian.

Trivia

In a late 2014 interview on the You Made It Weird podcast, he discussed his two-decade struggle with drug abuse and mentioned that he had just completed a rehab program. Tragically, he died suddenly just months later.

Family Life

He and his sister, voice actress Stephanie Wittels, were born to Jewish parents Ellison and Maureen Wittels and were raised primarily in Houston, Texas.
