Dutch comedian, musician, actor and occasional filmmaker. His work has been described as absurdist, apolitical and confrontational. He has over 100,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel, Hans Teeuwen.
Before Fame
He became well known in 1991 when he won an award at the Dutch cabaret festival Cameretten for his show Heist, together with his friend Roland Smeenk. He later acted in the 1999 film Jezus is een Palestijn (Jesus Is a Palestinian). Together with Theodor Holman he co-created the idea for the film Interview, directed by Theo van Gogh in 2003 (and remade in 2007 in the USA by Steve Buscemi). He wrote and directed the film Masterclass in 2005.
Trivia
In 2018, he released a Netflix special, Hans Teeuwen: Real Rancour, where he rebels against political correctness and takes on Donald Trump. In November 2020, he started posting new comedy sketches to his YouTube channel. Although his work is typically apolitical, he is a fervent supporter of freedom of speech, especially after the murder of his friend Theo van Gogh.
Family Life
He was born in Budel, Netherlands. His ex girlfriend gave birth to his first child, daughter Nika Teeuwen, in September 2013.
