Bangladeshi politician and army officer from Gazipur District. He served in the Bangladesh Army as a Brigadier general until 1981. He joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party in 1983. He served as the standing committee member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

In 1962, he was commissioned into the Pakistan Army.

Trivia

He served as the jute minister and a Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Gazipur-4 constituency from 1991-1996. He played a crucial role in keeping the Bangladesh Nationalist Party together in 2007 when the army-backed caretaker government assumed office and the BNP was about to split in half.

Family Life

His father Fakir Abdul Mannan was a minister in the Pakistan government during 1965-1968. His younger brother Shah Abu Nayeem Mominur Rahman was a judge. He was married to Nahid Hannan. They had a daughter and two sons.

When BNP founder Ziaur Rahman was assassinated in 1981, he brought Zia's body from Rangunia to Dhaka.
