About
Subject of the 2002 non-fiction children's book Hana's Suitcase by Karen Levine, she was a 13 year old Jewish girl who was murdered in the Holocaust. She was passionate about art, and created a handful of drawings that are still in existence.
Before Fame
She and her brother watched their parents be arrested and taken by the Nazis when she was 8 years old.
Trivia
She was taken to Theresienstadt concentration camp before being sent to Auschwitz, where she died in the gas chambers. Her brother George moved to Toronto after being liberated and became a successful plumber.
Family Life
She was born in Nové Město, in the Czechoslovak province Moravia-Silesia, and died in Auschwitz, Poland.
