Comedian, writer, and one of the six members of Monty Python. He played the lead roles in the Pythons' two narrative feature films: Holy Grail and Life of Brian.

Before Fame

He attended Emmanuel College before attending St Bartholomew's Medical College. He and John Cleese wrote professionally for the BBC during the 1960s and contributed sketches to the BBC radio series I'm Sorry, I'll Read That Again as well as television shows such as The Illustrated Weekly Hudd.

Trivia

His memoir, A Liar's Autobiography, was published in 1980.

Family Life

He was one of the first celebrities to come out publicly after he admitted he was a homosexual on an english talk show. David Sherlock, a writer, was his partner from 1966 until his death 23 years later.
