Professional sculptor and artist who is remembered for having designed the Academy Award of Merit, also known as the Oscar. He also designed and sculpted the Muse Statue at the Hollywood Bowl venue. Another design of his is the relief above the Art Deco landmark Bullocks Wilshire entrance at 3050 Wilshire Boulevard.

Before Fame

He studied sculpture at Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles from 1923 to 1926.
