About
Professional sculptor and artist who is remembered for having designed the Academy Award of Merit, also known as the Oscar. He also designed and sculpted the Muse Statue at the Hollywood Bowl venue. Another design of his is the relief above the Art Deco landmark Bullocks Wilshire entrance at 3050 Wilshire Boulevard.
Before Fame
He studied sculpture at Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles from 1923 to 1926.
Trivia
He spent time teaching at the Santa Barbara School of the Arts. He completed public artworks including work for schools such as the Long Beach Polytechnic High School.
