Author who is widely known for her work in the juvenile fiction genre. She has gained particular popularity for her Al Capone series, including Al Capone Does My Shirts, which earned her a prestigious Newberry Honor award.  

Before Fame

She studied illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design. She initially worked as an advertising copywriter before turning to novels full-time.
