Mexican musician, best known as one half of the duo Rodrigo y Gabriela, with her musical partner Rodrigo Sánchez. The duo has been making music since the late 1990's, releasing their latest in 2023. Their YouTube channel, rodrigoygabriela, has over 190,000 subscribers.
Before Fame
She met Rodrigo at the age of 15 in Mexico City, and the two bonded over their interest in music and soon became a couple. In 1993, she joined his and his brother's heavy metal band, Tierra Ácida (Acid Land), as the group's guitarist. In the year 1997, she started a band with just Rodrigo, paying in beach-side bars and hotels in the resort town of Ixtapa. They moved to Dublin, Ireland in 1999 after becoming frustrated with the Mexican rock scene. In the first half of 2001 they recorded a 9-track demo called Foc, but it wasn't until 2006 with their eponymous album, Rodrigo y Gabriela, that their music became more known, entering the Irish Albums Chart at #1 beating Arctic Monkeys and Johnny Cash.
Trivia
Their song "Tamacun" was featured in the pilot episode of AMC's Breaking Bad in January 2008. They were also featured on MTV, which gave them a huge boost in popularity in the United States. They are touring in Australia and Japan in 2025 for In Between Thoughts...A New World, their sixth studio album which was released on April 21, 2023.
Family Life
She grew up in a middle-class family in Mexico City. She dated Rodrigo for many years before they ended their relationship (but not their musical partnership) in 2012.

The duo had their national American TV debut on Late Show with David Letterman on December 18, 2006, performing "Diablo Rojo".
