Japanese musician and actor who first rose to fame as a member of rock band The Checkers. He went on to a successful solo career after The Checkers disbanded in 1992. His hit 1993 single "True Love" became one of the best-selling singles in Japan. His acting credits include the comedy-samurai film Samurai Fiction and the drama series Shimokita Sundays.

He debuted as the lead singer of The Checkers in 1983.

Trivia

He designed the Earth Tower for Expo 2005 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. He also designed one of the countdown T-shirts for the 1998 Winter Olympics.
