Erik Menendez

About

Widely known for the 1996 conviction of him and his older brother Lyle for the 1989 murder of his parents Jose and Mary. His 1993 trial was broadcast on Court TV, and became one of the biggest national crime stories of the US in the 1990s. 

Before Fame

He attended Beverly Hills High School. He gained national renown as a tennis player when he was ranked 44th in the nation for 18 and under players. 

Trivia

He was first tried separately from his brother, and after their juries deadlocked was then tried as a co-defendant. In 2017 Law & Order True Crime: The Menéndez Murders premiered, drawing from real life accounts of his case. 

Family Life

He married Tammi Ruth Saccoman while incarcerated in 1999.
