Before Fame
In his youth, he attended school for three years before he began helping his father on the family's sugarcane farm, earning $1.12 a day. He also helped with the household chores and taking care of his nine younger siblings.
Trivia
When asked for his secret to his long life, he responded "My dad raised me with love, and taught me to love everyone. He always told me and my brothers and sisters to do good, to share everything with others. Besides, Christ lives in me!"
Family Life
His parents are Alberto Flores and Margarita Marquez. He was the second-oldest of 11 children. In 1935, he married Andrea Pérez De Flores with whom he had four children. The couple were married for over 75 years before her death in 2010 at the age of 92.
