An American novelist and playwright, he is remembered for his novels featuring Chinese- American detective Charlie Chan. His popular Charlie Chan titles include The Chinese Parrot (1926) and Keeper of the Keys (1932).

Before Fame

He studied at Harvard University. Following his 1907 graduation, he worked as a journalist for The Plain Dealer.

He was posthumously inducted into the Warren City Schools Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.

He was born to Robert and Emma Biggers in Warren, Ohio. He married Eleanor Biggers in 1912.
