Diane Abbott

British politician who is known for having served as a Member of Parliament representing the Hackney North and Stoke Newington. She is a member of the Labour Party which allowed her to hold positions in the Labour Shadow Cabinets as well as the Shadow Home Secretary. 

Before Fame

She studied history at Newnham College at Cambridge University. She started her career working as a reporter for Thames Television and TV AM. She later ventured into politics when she became a press officer for the Greater London Council. She was first elected to Westminster City Council in 1982. 

Trivia

She is known for having been the country's first black Member of Parliament, having been elected in 1987.

She was born and raised in Paddington, London.

She is known for having supported Jeremy Corbyn bid to serve as Labour Party Leader in 2015 and went on to serve as Shadow Secretary of State for International Development under him.
