Before Fame

Denise Mwanakitata Muwayi (her given name) was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). She began singing in public when she was a teenager; she joined her church's choir. She joined the choir at the age of 13 and by the age of 18, she was promoted to Choir Director. She brought attention to the choir and became known through the DRC through her singing and a patriotic hymn they marketed across the country: the start of her making a career of her talents and ambition. After this, she started to split her time between the United States of America and her homeland.

Her first album was Hosanna which was released in 2011, she has two studio albums that have been released since 2016 and 2020. She's known internationally and has performed in more than 16 different nations. She is an award-winning singer, as well, winning numerous awards from the African Gospel Music Awards organization. Family Life

She was born into a family of eight children. Her father a university professor of psychology later became an oil executive and his love for his territory's musical culture was the first influence on her career. She is married to the founder of the HappyPeople record label, Michel Mutahali. He also manages her career. Together, they have three children: two sons and one daughter.
