Prior to being drafted in 2014, he was also drafted by the New York Yankees in the 28th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft after his senior year of high school. After declining his contract with the Yankees, he was eventually drafted by the Orioles as the 25th overall pick in the 2015 draft.
