Mother of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and subject of the 2019 Hulu original series The Act as well as the subject of the HBO documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest. She is known for her Munchausen syndrome by proxy and abuse of her daughter which led to her death in June of 2015.
Before Fame
She was engaged in petty theft during her childhood. She then worked as a nurse's aide before being accused of killing her own mother by denying her food in 1997. She had her own daughter at 24 and by second grade, she stopped sending her to school. The lies started escalating when she diagnosed her daughter with muscular dystrophy, seizures, and leukemia, all of which were untrue.
Trivia
After moving to Missouri, she started collecting several charitable donations on her daughters behalf which resulted in free flights to doctors in Kansas city, free trips to Walt Disney World, backstage passes to see Miranda Lambert, and several other gifts via the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Family Life
She was born and raised in Chackbay, Louisiana and had her daughter Gypsy Rose Blanchard at 24 with her then 17-year-old boyfriend Rod Blanchard.
