He graduated from the University of Pernambuco with a degree in medicine before going on to specialize in vascular surgery at the Hospital da Restauração and interventional radiology at the ANGIORAD Institute in Recife, Brazil. He also earned a postgraduate degree in orthomolecular medicine from the Veiga de Ameida University in Rio de Janeiro.
