Democratic-Republican and Whig member who served as Governor of Delaware from 1830 to 1833. He was also the Associate Justice on the Delaware Superior Court.
Before Fame
He was a lieutenant in the Delaware militia from 1807-1808, and also ran a mercantile business in Milton, Delaware.

He served one term in the Delaware Senate from 1835 to 1838.
Family Life
He married Elizabeth Collins in July, 1804 and together they had five children: Ann, Maria, John, William and David.

He was active in politics at the time of Nat Turner's rebellion in Virginia in 1831.
