American football player. He played as a linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL from 1964 to 1974. During his professional career, he was chosen to participate in seven Pro Bowls and was named All-NFL five times. In 2000, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Before Fame
Upon finishing high school at Vale High School in eastern Oregon in 1960, he enrolled at Boise Junior College, presently known as Boise State University, and received junior college All-America honors during his college football career.

He suffered an injury just once during his career. This caused him to miss only a single game.
Family Life
He was born in Ontario, Oregon. He grew up with six sisters and a brother who played defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles. His two sons, Justin Wilcox and Josh, followed in his footsteps and played football for the University of Oregon Ducks in Eugene.
