An English screenwriter, he is best known for his work on the popular BBC series, Doctor Who. He and his frequent collaborator, Bob Baker, worked on numerous other projects, including a 1970s children's sci-fi television series entitled Sky.

Before Fame

He was born in Birmingham, England. One of his earliest screenwriting projects was a 1971 episode of Doctor Who entitled "The Claws of Axos."

He wrote for the ITV children's series, Into the Labyrinth.

Family Life

He died of Lung cancer in 2007 and was survived by his wife Celia and his three children. From his first marriage, he had a daughter named Anna, and from his second, a daughter named Thea and a son named Leo.
