Italian professional road racing cyclist who is known for specializing in fast sprint finishes. He has ridden for a range of different professional teams including Saxo-Tinkoff in 2013 and Movistar Team in 2017.
Before Fame
He entered and won his first race at the age of nine. He then joined the Grassi Mapei team and won a stage of the Giro delle Regioni. He turned professional at the age of 21 and joined the Acqua & Sapone team. He earned further recognition in the 2005-2006 season with the Lampre team.
Trivia
He has won several major tours including two individual stages of the 2007 Tour de France and three individual stages of the 2008 Giro d'Italia.

He was born and raised in Arezzo, Italy. His father was also an amateur cyclist and his brother raced as a junior as well.
