Brazilian Paralympic swimmer and athlete who has won numerous gold medals at multiple Paralympic Games. During the 2008 Summer Paralympic Games, he won a total of nine medals, four of which were gold medals.
Before Fame
He was born with a limb deficiency that affected both his upper and lower limbs. He took up swimming at the young age of 16 after being inspired by Brazilian Paralympic swimmer Clodoaldo Silva's performance at the 2004 Summer Paralympics.
Trivia
He is a Christian. He enjoys watching soccer. In the year 2008, he won more medals than any other athlete. His first major event was the 2006 IPC Swimming World Championships in Durban, South Africa. He won the gold medal in three events, and a silver medal in a further two.
Family Life
He has been married to his wife Raquel Dias. Together, they have two sons and a daughter.
