Before Fame

He was born into a musical family and his father taught him how to play bass. He started a music group while in high school with four of his classmates including John Coley, called Playboys Five.

Trivia

His stage name, England Dan, came from a nickname given to him as a child by his brother, Jim, since he loved the Beatles and would often pretend to have an English accent.

Family Life

He was married to his high school love, Carol Bradbury, until the mid 1970s. They had two sons before he later married Andrea Gilbert, with whom he had a son and daughter.
