Iranian king and founder of the Achaemenian empire. His reign began after he overthrew his own grandfather's kingdom. He freed the enslaved Jewish people in Babylonia, which was recorded in chapter one of the book of Ezra.

He was raised by a shepherd after Astyages ordered his death as an infant due to a disturbing dream.
Trivia
The story of his death was documented by Herodotus. He had multiple capitols, including the city of Ecbatana and Pasargadawe. He defeated Massagetai, the ruler of the nomads. He is still revered by Iranians to this day, and his tomb is seen as a spot of reverence.

Associated With
He was portrayed by Syrian actor Ghassan Massoud in the 2019 Kazakhstani film Tomiris, which tells the story of Queen Tomiris' of Massagetae and her conflict with Cyrus the Great.
