About
French professional soccer manager and former defender who played for the Soyaux team in the Division 1. From 1993 to 2005 she played with the France national team, serving as captain for much of that time. In August 2014 she became the first woman to coach a men's professional football team when she led the Clermont team in a competitive match. She continued to manage the team for three seasons before becoming head coach of the French Women's National Team. Her contract was terminated in 2023 amid controversy.
Before Fame
She joined the amateur club ASJ Soyaux in 1988. At 18 she debuted for the French national team in March of 1993. Her managerial career began with managing the ASJ Soyaux's team and being assistant manager for the French national team.
Trivia
In October of 2006 she suffered an injury to her ACL in her right knee which ended her soccer career at age 32. She represented France at the 1997, 2001 and 2005 European Championships, serving as the team's captain. Several of her players and other professionals in the field have called her out for her behavior, such as ignoring key players in the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup drafts and having an out-of-date coaching style.
Family Life
Her father died in a car accident when she was 14. Her mother passed away during the time she coached the men's Clermont team. She is from Croix, France.
