Hong Kong film and TV star who has appeared in over 100 movies and several TV shows. Best known for Black Mask, Mad Detective, and Life Without Principle. He has 30,000 followers on Instagram.

Before Fame

Sometimes credited as Sean Lau, he got his start at the TVB--Shaw Bros. television studio training school. He toiled away in various TV shows before giving a breakout performance in The Greed of Man in 1992. Despite more work, he nearly quit the industry altogether, until fellow TVB alumni Derek Yee asked him to star in the romantic drama C'est La Vie Mon Cheri.

Trivia

He won Best Actor in the 2007 and 2015 Hong Kong Film Awards and in the 2000 and 2007 Golden Bauhinia Awards.

Family Life

He has been married to former Miss Hong Kong Amy Kwok since 1998. He and Kwon met on The Greed of Man. Kwok had gotten her masters in mechanical engineering from the University of Southern California and was doing an internship at NASA before meeting Lau and deciding to marry him.

Associated With

He is regarded as one of Hong Kong's most versatile actors, equally adept at comedy and action. He played opposite Carina Lau in the comedy La Brasserie, as well as Tony Leung Chiu-wai, star of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, in The Longest Nite.
