Before Fame
He was a former member of the Chinese-American gang Ghost Shadows since the age of 12. He was brought up in the Chinatown neighborhood of New York City. He discovered his appreciation for rap music while living in a group home as a child.
Trivia
He learned how to freestyle and rhyme while incarcerated for 11 months after shooting rapper Christopher Louie. In response to the high volume of racial discrimination cases against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the US during 2020, he organized anti-racism protests across the country.

He was born Raymond Yu in Brooklyn, New York. His father was part of the Flying Dragons gang.
