About
Queen of Great Britain and Ireland and the wife of George III from 1761 until 1818. Though she's sometimes called the first black Queen of England, historians have debated the accuracy of her appearances' accounts. She was German, but it's thought she may have had African Ancestors by way of Portugal. She shared interests with, and was a friend of, Marie Antoinette.
Before Fame
She was born in a modest castle in Mirow, Germany. Before moving to court in England, she had a mediocre education.
Trivia
She did not speak any English on her wedding day, though she quickly learned the language soon after. She and her husband enjoyed the music of George Frideric Handel.
Family Life
She was the youngest daughter born to Duke Charles Louis Frederick of Mecklenburg, Prince of Mirow. She had 15 children, 13 of which survived to adulthood.
