Former NBA point guard and shooting guard that played for the Phoenix Suns, the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, and Denver Nuggets during his 8-year career. While playing in the NBA, he was a champion and a three-time All-Star. He also played in the ABA for the Virginia Squires during his professional career in the 1970's.
Before Fame
Prior to being drafted, he played college basketball at the University of North Carolina. In 1970, he was named the ACC's Athlete of the Year.
Trivia
Although he's received many praises for his basketball talents, he's also gained recognition for his impact on social justice and racial equality. After enrolling in North Carolina as a freshman in 1967, he became the school's first African-American basketball player to make the team.
