Before Fame

In 1958 he became the co-host of the still local show American Bandstand, which allowed him to take several disk jockey jobs and then an anchorman role in Los Angeles.

Trivia

He joined the 'Wheel' in 1975, and stayed there until 1980, afterward sometimes filling in for his replacement and coming back to the show permanently in 1989.
