About

DJ and music producer famous for having created the highly acclaimed electronic music project Mexican Institute of Sound. He is also a composer for film, television, and video games, including Pixar's Coco and the Prime Video film A Million Miles Away, for which he won an Imagen Foundation Award in 2024. He has earned a Grammy Award and eight Latin Grammy Award nominations for his work as an artist and producer and has produced an extensive list of artists including rapper Santa Fe Klan, pop singer Natanael Cano, and jazz artist Norah Jones.

Before Fame

He released his debut album as Mexican Institute of Sound, titled "Méjico Máxico," in 2006. Since then, M.I.S. has released numerous albums including, "Soy Sauce" and "Disco Popular."

Trivia

He was named on Time Magazine's 2022 list of "One of the 80 Mexicans Shaping Contemporary Culture." He was also named as one of the "50 Most Influential People in Latin America" by the Spanish newspaper El Pais and as one of the "50 People Who are Transforming Mexico" by Quien Magazine.

Family Life

He is part of a family of musicians, including two brothers who are well-known throughout Mexico. His older brother Leoncio is a new wave artist and has composed the music for animated films such as Top Cat, while his middle brother Marcello is the guitarist for a band called Moderatto.

He has collaborated with a multitude of artists, including rapper Duckwrth, pop singer Cuco, and guitarist Graham Coxon, among many others.
