Professional boxing trainer most largely revered for having trained meritorious professional boxer Gervonta Davis since the five-time, three-division world champion southpaw was just a child. He, along with partner Kenny Ellis, is a co-founder of the Upton Boxing Center in West Baltimore, Maryland, where he has trained boxers of all ages for events with USA Boxing, the Junior Olympics, and the Silver & Golden Gloves Competitions.
Before Fame
He became passionate about boxing at a young age. However, he suffered a tumultuous upbringing and was sentenced to federal prison at the age of 21. By the time he was released 10 years later, he was too old to fight and decided to focus on working with kids to help prevent them from succumbing to similar fates.
Trivia
In his youth, he earned a notorious reputation for selling drugs and racketeering, for which he would later be given a ten-year prison sentence. He is said to have inspired the character Dennis "Cutty" Wise on HBO's crime drama series The Wire, which has often been cited as one of the greatest shows in television history.

His son Quaadir Gurley was tragically shot and killed in New Jersey in the year 2013 when he was just 24 years old.
