Radio personality known professionally as Cousin Brucie whose career in radio hosting and broadcasting spanned over several generations. He has worked for Top 40 Stations in New York City including WINS, WABC, and WNBC. He gained particular renown for introducing new and diverse genres and regions of music to the listeners of American radio. He is widely credited with having introduced The Beatles to its American audience in this way. In 1998, he was officially inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame. He was later included in the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame, radio division, in 2001.
Before Fame
He participated in the All-City Radio Workshop while attending James Madison High School, which confirmed his wishes to fulfill a career in radio. He began spending several hours a week working at the WNYE-FM radio station before he commenced his college career. He initially attended Brooklyn College. However, he later transferred to New York University's Communications Arts Program. He went on to create NYU's first-ever radio station called WCAG.
Trivia
An avid philanthropist, he served as president of the Variety Children's Charity for over ten years and worked with the organization closely throughout his career. The charity provided funding for children suffering from physical, social, and economical ailments or disadvantages. He has also volunteered with organizations such as WhyHunger and Gatewave Audio Reading Service for the visually impaired. In 2010, he was honored with the William Paterson University's Bravery in Radio Award.

His birth name is Bruce Meyerowitz. He was born to Mina and Abe Meyerowitz in Brooklyn, New York. After divorcing his first wife, he married department store executive Jodie Berlin. He has three children and two grandchildren.
Associated With
He has recorded vocal performances for scenes in the Julie Taymor-directed jukebox film Across The Universe, as well as the 1987 original romance blockbuster Dirty Dancing. In the latter, he also played the role of a magician who sawed Baby, the character portrayed by Jennifer Grey, in half.
