English TV and film actor, entertainer, artist, and performer who is best known for his role as Les Battersby in the long-running soap opera Coronation Street where he starred from 1997 to 2007, and for appearing in the films Raining Stones (1993) and The Full Monty (1997).
Before Fame
He had a challenging childhood and spent two years in a hospital isolation ward due to rheumatic fever. He left school when he was 16 years old and he worked as a pipe fitter and fireman before being encouraged by a teacher to pursue acting. His first major break came in 1993 after appearing in the film Raining Stones.
Trivia
He discovered one of the Yorkshire Ripper's victims in the year 1977. He participated in the reality show Celebrity Big Brother in 2013, and was evicted on the same night as fellow contestant Dustin Diamond. He is the author of Bruce Jones: The Official Autobiography (2011).
Family Life
He was born and raised in Collyhurst, Manchester, England. His parents divorced when he was 12 years old and he went to live with his grandmother in Wales after the divorce. He has four children.
