Rapper, singer-songwriter, record producer, and actor who rose to fame after releasing his debut single "Dat $tick," which was later certified gold by RIAA, in March of 2016. After being signed to the record label 88rising, he collaborated with industry leaders on singles such as "Gospel" with Xxxtentacion and Keith Ape, "Chaos" with 21 Savage, and "18" with Trippie Redd, Baauer, Joji, and Kris Wu.

Before Fame

His interest in hip-hop music was piqued in 2012. He wrote his first rap song in 2014. He began releasing his own music under the name "Rich Chigga" on his YouTube account in 2015, beginning with his debut track "Living the Dream." Shortly after, his single "Dat $tick" earned international recognition and helped boost his career to stardom. He later changed his stage name to Rich Brian after receiving backlash for the racial undertones of his initial moniker.

Trivia

He earned the title of Breakthrough Artist of the Year in May of 2017 at the 4th Indonesian Choice Awards. In the year 2023, he made his professional acting debut starring in the lead role of the Justin Chon-directed indie drama film Jamojaya.

Family Life

He is the son of lawyer Heru and café owner Megawati Purnomo. He has three older siblings, including pop singer Sonia Eryka and social media star Roy Leonard. 

Associated With

He's worked with artists such as Yung Bans, Yung Pinch, and Playboi Carti on tracks for 88rising's 2018 compilation album, "Head in the Clouds." He also joined forces with artists including Niki Zefanya and Higher Brothers on tracks for the album's follow-up release, "Head in the Clouds II" the following year.
