Yachtsman and author famous for his involvement in IMOCA 60 class offshore races. He has been called one of "the fastest sailors in the world" and his ocean adventures have been the topic of his books - Abenteuer Ocean Race and Allein zwischen Himmel und Meer, both of which he co-wrote with Andreas Wolfers, and Nonstop: Süchtig nach Segeln/Driven by the Sea. He also co-authored a children's book with his wife called My Ocean Challenge in the year 2023.
