Bongiwe Msomi

South African netball player and captain of the South African national netball team, also known as the Spar Proteas. She is recognized for her leadership on the court and for her contributions to the sport of netball in South Africa. She has represented her country in various international competitions and has played a role in promoting netball and inspiring young athletes in South Africa.

Before Fame

In the year 2004, at the age of 16 and during her time at Chief Luthayi High School in Durban, she embarked on her netball journey. Her inaugural match saw her stepping in as a substitute, taking up the role of wing defense due to the team being one player short.

Trivia

She is the founder of the Bongi Msomi Netball Project, a non-profit initiative she established that is committed to elevating the status of netball. It focuses on the comprehensive growth of coaches, players, children, and athletes.

Family Life

Born and raised in Durban, South Africa, she spent her upbringing in Hammarsdale. Among eight siblings, she holds the position of the fifth. Her younger sister participates in provincial netball.
