Professional ice hockey player who played as defenceman in the National Hockey League for 17 seasons between the years 1956 and 1973. His nickname was "Boomer." In the year 2010, he was inducted into the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame.
Before Fame
He played junior hockey with the Toronto Marlboros of the Ontario Hockey Association between the years 1952 and 1956. He won the Memorial Cup with the team in both 1955 and 1956.
Trivia
He was called up to the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 1956-57 season. He played in Toronto for the next 11 seasons, winning the Stanley Cup in 1962, 1963, 1964, and 1967. He is considered the hero of the Maple Leafs 1964 Stanley Cup after he fractured his ankle earlier in game six of the season. However, he returned to score the game-winning goal in overtime. The Leafs would go on to win the next game with a score of 4-0 to conclude the best-of-seven series, which saw them secure their third consecutive Stanley Cup championship.

He was the grandfather of former professional hockey player Kyle Baun.
