Actor best known for playing the role of gang leader Tommy Gordon in the stage production of Dead End, as well as the Dead End Kids film series it inspired. He also appeared in films such as You Can't Get Away with Murder, Tom Brown's School Days, and Sea Raiders.
Before Fame
He earned his first acting job in 1933 playing the lead character of Bobby Benson on "The H-Bar-O Rangers" radio show. Shortly thereafter, he played the role of Dick Kent on the radio series "Home Sweet Home" for 3 years.
Trivia
He served in the US Army Signal Corps. After returning home from World War II, he discovered that he had aged out of the roles he was used to playing. This led him to take a hiatus from acting and become a registered nurse.
Family Life
He was the son of Benjamin Cohen and Lucille Elizabeth Halop. He had a brother named Joel and a sister named Florence who also worked in radio and television. He was married at least 4 times: first to Helen Tupper, then to Barbara Hoon, then Suzanne Roe, and finally to a nurse whose name is unknown.

He made a brief comeback as an actor in the 1970s, playing the role of Bert Munson on 10 episodes of All in the Family, appearing alongside Carroll O'Connor, Jean Stapleton and Sally Struthers.
