Before Fame
After graduating from high school in 1975, he joined the Navy. He later worked as an Alaska king-crab fisherman. In 2005, he semi-retired to run sport fishing tours out of Costa Rica and Mexico.
Trivia
In Season 14, he and his crew endured deckhand Spencer Moore going overboard. He orchestrated his reality-defying retrieval from water. He went through a painful hip surgery and physical therapy.
