American lawyer who was best known as an investigator of Nazi war crimes after World War II and as the chief prosecutor for the United States Army at the Einsatzgruppen Trial. In March 2020, he turned 100 years old. He passed away three years later.

He graduated from Townsend Harris High School and studied at Harvard Law School and The City College of New York.
Trivia
In August 2006, he suggested in an interview, that not only Saddam Hussein should be tried, but also George W. Bush because the Iraq War had been begun by the U.S. without permission from the UN Security Council.

He was married to Gertrude Ferencz from 1946 to 2019. They have four children together.
