Founder and namesake of the popular British group science YouTube channel, BenGThomas, which has compiled over 650,000 subscribers to date. He, along with Oliver Thomas, Douglas James, Matthew Holloway, and Emilia Evans, has presented numerous informative videos on nature, paleontology, and animal science which have been viewed more than 146 million times. He has created popular video series for the channel including "Fossil Fridays," "Animal of the Week," "7 Days of Science," and "Shark Week," the latter of which was based off of the annual television event originally created for the Discovery Channel in 1988.

Before Fame

He launched his YouTube channel in the year 2013 after having been told about the platform by his grandfather. His debut video was a documentary-style upload that he created with his brother about the nature of Florida.

Trivia

In April of 2024, after launching a TikTok account featuring educational clips about recent paleontological discoveries, his videos earned over 700,000 views in total on the platform within only 100 hours of being introduced.

Family Life

He first learned about YouTube from his grandfather. He is the brother of Oliver "Oli" Thomas, who has made several appearances on the YouTube channel and notably hosted a video series called "Oli's Octopuses."

Associated With

He has stated that paleontologist Mary Anning is one of his personal heroes. In January 2020, he visited her gravesite in Lyme Regis, England.
