Human rights activist best known as one of the co-founders of the Black Lives Matter movement. She has dedicated much of her life and career to the fight for racial justice and immigrant rights. She also founded the global platform Diaspora Rising and commanded the Black Alliance for Just Immigration.
Before Fame
She earned a bachelor's degree in public/applied history from the University of Arizona in 2005. In 2010, she went on to obtain her master's degree in communication studies from Arizona State University.

She has two younger brothers. The year before she was born, her parents relocated from Nigeria to the United States.
