About

Renowned broadcast journalist, cultural activist, and poet whose many works including Ekka Dokka and Je Pare Paruk have been translated into numerous languages and published in countries all over the world. During the liberation war of Bangladesh, he regularly contributed coverage to an assortment of written publications as well as the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra radio broadcasting center. 

Before Fame

He graduated from the University of Dhaka with a master's degree in Bengali in the year 1964 before initiating his career as a teacher of Bengali language and literature at Brahmanbaria College. He published his first poetic works in 1975, in a collection entitled Tabak Deya Paan.

He came from a long line of highly influential ancestors who made a lasting impact on the geography, government, societal structure, and trade practices of the Bengali region. His forefathers' contributions to the defense and development of the land helped them earn the honorable title of Choudhury for their family.

Family Life

He was the son of Muhammad Arif, the grandson of Eslam, the great-grandson of Majid, and the great-great-grandson of Hasan Raja. Hasan Raja, along with his brothers Naya and Kala Raja, instituted the zamindari governing style to the Idilpur Union and established 3 of its largest ports. 

Associated With

In 2013, Sheikh Hasina presented him with Bangladesh's 2nd highest civilian honor, the Ekushey Padak. The national award was created in observation of the 1952 Bengali Language Movement's many victims.
