Biochemist who was a Republican candidate from Oregon's 4th congressional district for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2010. He was the co-founcer of the Institute of Orthomolecular Medicine, which was later renamed the Linus Pauling Institute.

He attended Cal Tech before attaining a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of California, San Diego in 1968.
