Anurag Thakur

Indian politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. He is also the Minister of Sports, Youth Affairs and Minister of Information and Broadcasting in the Second Modi ministry. He previously served as a Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs. 

Before Fame

He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Doaba College, Jalandhar. In May 2008, he succeeded his father when he was elected as Member of Parliament of India's 14th Lok Sabha from Hamirpur constituency.  

Trivia

In July 2016, he became a part of the Territorial Army (TA), becoming the first serving BJP Member of Parliament to become a TA Officer. He was later promoted to the rank of captain.

He married Shefali Thakur.
