About
Croatian politician who founded the Ustaše, an infamous Croatian ultranationalist organization, in 1929. From 1941 to 1945, he served as dictator of the Independent State of Croatia. He was responsible for the persecution of various ethnic groups during his rule.

He studied law at the University of Zagreb.
Trivia
He is mentioned in Harry Turtledove's short story Ready for the Fatherland. After his death, he was buried in Madrid's oldest private cemetery.

He married Maria Lovrenčević in 1922 and had three children with her.
